PATRIOT BAND UNIFORM DRIVE

The Governor Thomas Johnson High School Patriot Band is beginning its fund drive for new uniforms. The uniforms the marching band currently wears are 8 years old and many in need of repair. We are asking businesses in our community for donations to assist us with this effort. Without your support, we will not be able to attain our goal to have new uniforms to begin our 2010 marching season. This is necessary since the Frederick County Board of Education is not able to provide the necessary uniform funding that is needed for all nine high schools in the county. Therefore, the burden for replacing the marching band uniforms falls solely on the GTJHS Band Boosters Association in conjunction with the Fundraising Committee and parents of the high school band

The Governor Thomas Johnson High School Patriot Marching Band is award winning and consistently makes an outstanding showing in the Tournament of Bands competition circuit, competing with bands throughout the east coast. We have been Chapter (regional) Champions for the past two years, which is a first in the history of the organization. At the Atlantic Coast Championship (the Superbowl of marching band), we place 6th providing GTJHS with the highest ranking the band has ever received. In the spring, the band was selected to perform in New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade and also regularly performs throughout the community in parades and invitational appearances. TJ's Marching Band is quickly growing into a highly competitive, well known band throughout the Atlantic Coast region and the purchase of new uniforms is the next step in the continued success of this organization.

We anticipate the purchase of 150 uniforms for the 2010 - 2020 Marching Band classes. The estimated cost for each uniform is $550. In order to have the new uniforms by fall of 2010, we must have the necessary funds by to purchase them by December 2009. In order to achieve our goal to outfit our band members in new uniforms, we need your help.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR BAND UNIFORM DRIVE DONORS

1. Donors will have their names published in a special "Thank You" section of the local newspaper.
2. Donors who donate $250.00 or more will also be provided with a photo to display in their business of office.
3. For each donation that equals the cost of one or more complete uniforms ($550), the donor will also get a special donor patch listing the donor name and organization will be attached inside the uniform jacket.
4. Donors who donate $1,000.00 or more will also be provided a photo of the band members with the donor.
5. Donors who donate $2,500.00 or more will have their picture published in the newspaper and be recognized at a GTJHS home football game. Donors will also get their picture taken with the band, and receive special recognition on the field during half time.
