The Governor Thomas Johnson High Band Dept. and The Governor Thomas Johnson Marching Band Booster are proud to host a 2009 Indoor Percussion and Color Guard Competition! Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion are the fastest growing of the pageantry arts and have become a substitute for the loss of many arts programs in schools. For most school music programs, springtime leads to a temporary retirement of band members' Springtime marching ensembles are a wonderful introduction, not to replace concert season, but to enhance the overall music program. This gives many students, who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity, a chance to make a significant contribution toward the success of an ensemble in the spring. It can also decrease the reliance on summer band camp to teach or refresh students on marching fundamentals. Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion events provide a great means for students to showcase their specialized skills and talents. Championships:
