Treasurer’s report: $13,633.53 in general account; $9,847.07
in student, $7,339.61 in uniform and $15,000 in a CD for uniform
account. We will be purchasing another CD in the amount of $5,000.
We are on target for ordering the uniforms towards this end of this
year.
Uniform Committee reported that everything is going well.
Fund raising has a lot of gas cards to sell. Jazz/Spaghetti dinner
is being held May 16th. Maggie has flyers. We will need workers
and kids to help; it’s a Saturday night. The banquet is being
held on May 15th. The price may drop to be lower than last year’s
price. It will be $14 or $15 10 and under will be $8. Seniors can
go for free and senior parents can use left over money in their
account to purchase tickets. The banquet will begin at 6:30 and
Duchess’s Daughter. No tickets will be sold at the door and
there will be no refunds.
Keys Concessions Committee reports that we learned how to make
nachos, burritos and taco salads. Linda has the contract here for
the board to sign. We will make 10% or $100; whichever is greater.
Linda is wearing Keys uniform to show what people will need to wear
to the games. Jean has shirts here. Celtic fest is coming up, Saturday
May 9th. It will be at the Frederick Fair Grounds this year. Sue
has the sign up sheets here. Dream Dinners fund raiser is happening
this Friday. Maggie is willing to take on fund raising for next
year but will need serious back up to pull it off.
Trip wrap up. We had a great time in Boston. The owner of Kewl
came as our guide. We came back with the same kids we left with.
Next year’s trip will be around the first week before Easter.
Nominating committee reports a nice slate of candidates. People
who are running need to produce a little resume. It doesn’t
have to be formal or fancy, just something to give people an idea
of who you are and what you can bring to the organization. Each
candidate spoke a little bit about their desire to serve. Mike Hillman,
President; Doug Brown, 1st Vice President; Andy Hogan, 2nd Vice
President, Amelia Ecker, Treasurer, Kathy Hillman, Vicki Smith and
Carrie Kurdt, Secretary. This is the slate of candidates for the
vote next month.
Mrs. Caulfield addressed the group. Next week is going into the
spring musical; Little Shop of Horrors. Jazz Night is on May 5th.
8th grade information night is on May 6th. The spring concert is
May 12th. Banquet is May 15th and Spaghetti Dinner/Jazz Club is
May 16th. May 22nd is the first marching band rehearsal. We’re
having a reading rehearsal in 2 weeks on April 22nd for the marching
music at 6:00. State Adjudication is April 29th. The performance
is at 2:00 at Morgan State University. They will have dinner in
Catonsville afterwards at Old Country Buffet. Mrs. Caulfield would
like to refresh the liaison committee. We particularly need a color
guard and percussion parent to help out with this. Anyone who is
interested can talk to the Kurdts or Mrs. Caulfield. Graduation
is June 1st. Tom Kurdt will get volunteers for that.
Carrie announced that there is a recommended revision to the by-laws.
This amendment would combine the 2nd VP and student account treasurer
as these tasks are currently being done by the same person. The
revised version will be on the web-site within the next day or two.
There has also been a change to the policies and procedures in that
they will be combined into a single document and the table of contents
will contain links to take people directly to the section they want
to look at.
Chris Voell recommended that a list of all students and band parents
be published. Doug Brown agreed that we are working towards this
as a test of the e-mail group list elicited a less than 50% response.
We are working on ways to get more people into the communication
loop.
Meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Carrie Kurdt
